Spice Ships was born from a  simple wish at the end of a long strategy board game night with friends: the craving for "just one more quick round".

After naively exclaiming "How hard can it be to design a game?!" - we found ourselves deep in a sea of concept designs, dead ends, countless playtests and late-night brainstorms. Months of trails and a fair few incredibly patient and supportive friends later, we finally discovered the treasure that is Spice Ships. 

What we wanted was something that captures the essence of what makes a board game fun. Not just engaging and easy to pick up, but also with the depth and strategy of a more complex strategy game. We envisioned a game that was portable, challenging and approachable. Something that could work in a variety of settings - from cozy casual gaming at family gatherings or holiday train rides, but also capable of being the cherry on top of any marathon strategy board game session.
